Transferring a domain moves its registration to us without changing the domain name or (if you plan it) interrupting your website or email. The standard steps:
- Unlock the domain at your current registrar (remove the transfer/registrar lock).
- Get the authorization code (also called EPP code or auth code) from your current registrar.
- Make sure the admin email is current, since approval messages go there.
- Start the transfer with us and enter the authorization code.
- Approve the transfer when you receive the confirmation email; some registrars also require approval on their side.
- Wait for completion — most transfers finish in about 5–7 days, set by the registry, not by us.
Your website and email keep working during the transfer as long as the DNS records stay the same. Note that many TLDs cannot be transferred within 60 days of registration or a previous transfer.
